Analog Devices Inc. ADuM7701 16-Bit, Isolated Sigma-Delta Modulators
Analog Devices ADuM7701 16-Bit, Isolated Sigma-Delta (ΣΔ) Modulators convert an analog input signal into a high-speed, single-bit data stream with on-chip digital isolation based on iCoupler technology. The ADuM7701 modulators operate from a 5V (VDD1) power supply and accept a pseudo-differential input signal of ±250mV (±320mV full scale). The pseudo-differential input is ideally suited to shunt voltage monitoring in high-voltage applications requiring galvanic isolation.
The ADuM7701 continuously samples the analog input, converting to a ones density digital output stream with a data rate of up to 21MHz. The serial input/output operates from a 5V or a 3.3V supply (VDD2). The device receives the original information reconstructed with an appropriate digital filter to achieve an 86dB signal to noise ratio (SNR) at 78.lkSPS with a 20MHz MCLK.
The device features a serial interface that is digitally isolated. Combining CMOS and monolithic transformer technology results in outstanding performance characteristics, superior to alternatives using on-chip isolation. The ADuM7701 is available in both 16-lead and 8-lead wide-body SOIC packages and operate in a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
